William Earle Nolan, Sr.

NOLAN SR., William E. (Bill), age 86, of Dayton, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2019. Bill graduated from Fairview High School in 1950 and spent a short time at Central Michigan where he played some football. He married his one and only wife, Mae in 1951. He served an apprenticeship with Inland Manufacturing of General Motors and went on to have a long career in the tool & die building field. He was part of a group in the late 60's which founded the Megacity Tool & Die Manufacturing Co, later becoming chairman and president of Megacity.

Bill and Mae started their marriage with nothing and built a nice life together. They raised six children: Bill Nolan Jr., Linda Ruescher, Vicki McDaniel, Kathy Iron Necklace, Judy Montgomery, and Scott Nolan. They have 16 grandchildren 14 great-grandchildren.

Bill liked to repair and fix things. After retirement he became an avid gardener. There wasn't anyone he didn't want to help if they were in need. He helped many through the years but you didn't always hear about it. He loved nature and animals. He was always in awe at the stars and the waters of the earth. He became a strong swimmer at an early age. Bill never passed up a bowl of ice-cream. He was so physically strong, even in his later years, that most were amazed. He was terribly shy socially but liked to joke around with those closest to him. He will be most assuredly missed by all of us.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019 from 10-12pm at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville, with a service to follow at 12pm. Burial will be in Miami Valley Memory Gardens.
