William Joseph Saal

August 5, 1937 — August 23, 2021

SAAL, William “Bill” J., 84, of Tipp City, passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021. Bill was born on August 5, 1937 to the late Leo and Elizabeth (Metzger) Saal, in Cleveland, OH. One of seven children he graduated from St. Edward’s high school before attending the University of Dayton. He graduated from UD in 1960 with a B.S in Business Administration before attaining his MBA in 1973. During his time at UD he met the love of his life and future wife Sue Wagner, and they were later married on July 2, 1960. Bill retired in 1986 after 25 years of service at the Inland Division of General Motors in Dayton, OH. What followed were many years filled with family, friends, and his various hobbies. He always cherished the many weekends and summers spent at Indian Lake at their cottage on Pony Island. In truth, family was always Bill’s top priority in life and he especially appreciated spending time with his five grandchildren. In their later years Bill and Sue enjoyed spending time together doing crosswords, watching TV (mostly Fox news), and going to trivia at Oscar’s Bar with friends. Throughout his life he was a devout catholic and a longtime member of St. John the Baptist Catholic parish. Bill was loved by all that knew him. He had a dry and witty sense of humor, and it was evident that he cared deeply for his family and friends. He will be very missed!

Bill was preceded by his loving wife of 57 years, Sue Saal; sisters Mary Jo Weiss and Margaret Saal; and brother Bob Saal.

Survived by son, Jeff (Brooke) Saal; Daughters, Julie Harris and Lori (Keith) Nakon; Grandsons, Sam and Max Routsong, Ben and Will Nakon; Granddaughter, Kathryn Harris; and numerous friends and relatives.
