SMITH, Willie Charles, affectionately known as “Smitty”, age 70 of Chandler, AZ passed away peacefully in Dayton, OH on September 2, 2022. He was a graduate of Colonel White High School, retired Master Sergeant of the United States Air force. Willie Charles, a man of God, was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. His favorite pass time was spending time enjoying his family playing cards/dominos and having cookouts. He spent every day possible watching his sports dedicated to his favorite team the Lakers. Known for his joy for life and stories he shared with the youth, Willie/Charles touched many lives over the years. Married to his childhood friend Velma Smith for 18 blessed years. Preceded in death by his Mother, Alberta Neal; father, Nathan Smith; brother, Terry Smith. He is survived by his wife Velma Smith; 6 children, Keith (Tara) Smith, Jason (Monica) Branch, La’Toya Smith, Ebonee (Nick) Rios, Eryca Nunn, and Brandy Bartholomew; 25 grandchildren; brother, Joe (Betsy) Smith (his eldest brother whom he shared an extraordinary bond); sister, Lennie Wright; a host of nieces and nephews; special friends Ahmed Evans, Reginald Bernard, and Eric Bernard. His memory will be cherished.
