Obituary

BRUGGEMAN, Jamie Catherine, passed away on May 2, 2018 at the age of 90.

Jamie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Robert J. (Bob) Bruggeman; parents, Hester Kirkwood and James C. Hawkes; stepfather, Wesley Kirkwood; and her beloved grandson, Jonathon Gregory Bruggeman. She is survived by extended family and friends, including treasured family friend Mikell Kloeters. She was a devoted mother to Cathy (Greg) DeMarco, Greg (Felicia McNutt) Bruggeman, Steve (Elizabeth) Bruggeman, Roberta (Scott) Liddic, Jennifer (Chris) Stricker, and Mary (Harold) Mayton; cherished grandmother to Jessica (Will) Rosenbeck, Stephanie and Matt Bruggeman, Holly and Hunter Mayton, Morgan and Jake Liddic, Emma and Jack Bruggeman and Drew and Joe Stricker; and loving great-grandmother of Layla.

Jamie cherished her high school years at Wilbur Wright High School and reunions with lifelong "Pilots" friends. She attended classes at The University of Dayton, where she met Bob. She worked over the years at Edler & Johnston Company (packed care packages for WWII soldiers), McCrory 5 & 10 Cent Store (sold sheet music for "Pistol Packin' Mama" and the 78 record for it), Ohio Bell Telephone Company (in the business office), Hewitt Soap Company (packed soap boxes with high school friends), The Johnston-Shelton Company - The Home Store (secretary to the General Manager, Jesse Philips), Sheffield Corporation (secretary) and Kohler Food Service (catering services).

Jamie had a beautiful soprano singing voice and sang in the Wilbur Wright Concert Choir and in the church choir at St. Helens Catholic Church from 1955 through the 1990s. Jamie's time with family was her most treasured. She enjoyed baking and cooking family meals and collected cookbooks. She was a talented seamstress and created outfits for herself, children, and grandchildren. She also loved listening to the oldies and classical music, as well as watching movies and plays.

Visitation will be on Sunday, May 6, 2-5pm with a Celebration of Life at 4pm Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St, Centerville. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Helens Catholic Church Monday, May 7 at 10am followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery.

The family would like to express our thanks for the wonderful help and care given by Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton.
