O'DONNEL, Thelma Pearl (Renner), age 91, of Washington Township passed away on April 13, 2017 at Hospice of Dayton. Thelma was born in Dayton, Ohio on July 5, 1925.
She attended Roosevelt High School in Dayton. Thelma worked in school transportation most of her working career. She was Transportation Supervisor for Centerville School District from 1966 until her retirement in 1987. Thelma was member of Hope United Methodist Church for many years. She volunteered each Sunday to work in the church nursery. During her career, she was involved in many organizations that were associated with school transportation. She was past President of the Ohio Transportation Supervisors Association. Thelma enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Derrell, in 2015; and her brothers, Allen and Raymond Renner. Thelma is survived by her children, Don (Kenann) O'Donnel of Clearwater, FL, Lynn (Bill) Reeves of Columbus, and Sandy (Ron) Diorio of Bellbrook; grandchildren, Audra (Ted) Liswith of FL, Scott Diorio of Bellbrook, Chad (Janie) O'Donnel of MN, Jenny Diorio of Bellbrook, and Cheryl (Aaron) White of Columbus; great-grandchildren, Jake and Josh Lawson, Kaila Diorio, Brogan and Balor O'Donnel, Mitchell Liswith, and Megan White; and siblings, Barbara Barnes, John (Wilma) Renner, and Sherry McGhee.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Brighton Gardens for their loving care of Thelma. Also, thank you to Hospice of Dayton for making Thelma comfortable during her final days. Donations to Hospice in Thelma's honor would be appreciated.
Visitation will be held from 9:00-10:30am with a funeral service beginning at 10:30am on Monday, April 17, 2017 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 East Stroop Rd., Kettering. Burial in David's Cemetery.
