Joseph Thomas (Tom) Loges died in his home on October 23, 2017 in Kettering, Ohio at the age of 85.
Tom is survived by his wife Audrey; children, Daniel (Bonnie), Mary Ann, Timothy (Shelly), Mark (Sherry), Rebecca (Brian) Kundtz and Patricia (Fred) Haring; siblings, Marty (Jerry) Lynch of West Bloomfield, Michigan and Kathy (Greg) Senior of Amelia, Ohio. He is preceded in death by sons, Michael and Robert (Deborah) and sister, Jane Bacon.
Tom was born on July 30, 1932 in Dayton, Ohio to Joseph and Mary Loges. He graduated from Chaminade in 1950 and received certification from Acme School of Tool & Die design. He married Audrey in 1953. Tom joined the Navy and served for 2 years during the Korean War. Tom started working as a Tool Designer and retired from General Motors. Tom and Audrey were married 64 years and welcomed 8 children into their home and subsequently 16 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. Tom’s children remember him as a kind and gentle father who encouraged them to pursue their goals.
He loved the outdoors such as hunting and fishing and was very athletic. He played in softball leagues most of his life and played racquetball until he was in his 80’s at which time he switched to tennis. He was an active and dedicated member of the Church, regularly volunteering for Saint Vincent de Paul and often volunteered at the Dayton Foodbank.
A visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00pm on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 East Stroop Road, Kettering. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Tom’s life. There will be a mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am on Monday, October 30, 2017 at the Church of the Ascension, 2001 Woodman Dr., Kettering.
