Barbara Jean Moyer

MOYER, Barbara Jean, age 82, of Beavercreek, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2015. She was born on May 20, 1933 in Dayton, OH to the late Ray and Edith Werts. Barbara graduated from Roosevelt High School and worked as a school bus driver for Beavercreek City Schools until her retirement. She won many awards at Bus Driver Competitions and also volunteered to drive busses from Iowa to Alaska before the Alaskan Highway was paved. Barbara was a loving caretaker for her family and proved so by making daily phone calls to check on her loved ones and by taking great care of her mother until her passing at the age of 98. She was always one to brag about her grandkids. She had great joy in driving the school bus and boasted about "being the cleanest school bus out there". Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald P. Moyer; daughter-in-law, Judith Moyer; and brother, Ronald Werts. She is survived by her children, Douglas P. Moyer of Mansfield, OH and Deborah L. Reid of Riverside, OH; grandchildren, Jenny, Christy, Sylvia, Lisa, and Nick; 6 great-grandchildren; and sister, Jane Brown of Brooksville, FL. Family will greet friends from 11:00am-1:00pm on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. A graveside service will follow at 1:30pm at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery, 8135 N. Dixie Dr., Dayton. The family would like to thank the staff from Hospice of Dayton and her daughter-in-law and granddaughter, Deborah and Sylvia, for all their great care of Barbara.
