Carole Ann Kircher

May 26, 1935 — November 19, 2014

KIRCHER, Carole Ann (Jacobs), age 79, formerly of Oakwood, passed away Nov. 19, 2014. She was a graduate of Franklin (Ind.) High School, attended Franklin College and received her B.A. from Ohio University in 1957. A longtime resident of Oakwood, Carole had most recently split her time between Hudson, Ohio, and Bokeelia, Fla., and previously had residences in Paradise, Mich., and on Useppa Island, Fla. Over the years, Carole's interests, involvements and occupations were numerous and varied. Beginning as an elementary school teacher, she spent the '60s and '70s devoted to being a wife and mother while maintaining involvement in such organizations as the Dayton Art Institute and the Garden Club of Dayton. In the '80s she devoted herself to Republican politics, becoming the local campaign manager for both George H.W. Bush and later Ronald Regan in the 1980 election, and running her own retail business, The Fabric Co., in Centerville. In the '90s, Carole and her husband, Dudley, retired and moved to Useppa Island, Fla., where she became active in the garden club, and the pair undertook the restoration of a 36-foot trawler and cruised the Intracoastal Waterway. She loved the water, loved out-of-the-way sometimes inconvenient places, and loved to entertain family and friends. Additionally, she enjoyed writing, authoring two cookbooks and a play. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dudley P. Kircher, and her brother, Mike Jacobs. She is survived by her children, Chris, Stacy and Ted, and their spouses; grandsons, Jake, Mack, Christopher and Tyler; granddaughters, Grace and Hope; and sister, Susan Hartman. A memorial celebration of her life will be held in Dayton in the spring of 2015. Burial in Woodland Cemetery. Friends may make memorial contributions to University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center at uhgiving.org/donate.
