Charles Glenwood Weidle

WEIDLE, Charles Glenwood, age 97 of Centerville passed away on Sunday November 25, 2007. He was preceded in death by his parents Flora Hahn Weidle and Charles “Gus” Weidle, his first wife Louise Zimmerman Weidle, a sister Margaret and brother Mark. He is survived by his wife Ruth Edgerton Weidle of Centerville, a daughter Ann (Ron) Brown of Foley, AL; a son Tom (Debbie) Weidle of Folsom CA; stepsons Mike (Nancy) Edgerton of Miamisburg, Charles ”Ed” Edgerton of Santa Clara, CA and Eric (Sandy) Edgerton of Parachute, CO. Glen is also survived by a sister Jeannette Hannegan of Dayton and sister-in-law Virginia Weidle of Centerville, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Glen was born November 1, 1910 in Miamisburg. He graduated from Centerville High School in 1928 where he was a short stop on the only Centerville High School baseball team to win a State Championship. He attended Wilmington College and then went to work at Frigidaire in 1930. He became a Supervisor of Factory Budgets until he retired in 1971. Glen was a member of the West Carrollton Masonic Lodge, Lions International, and Frigidaire’s TOM club. He was among the first group inducted into the Centerville Baseball Hall of Fame. Glen was a long time member of Grace Lutheran Church in West Carrollton and then Christ the King Lutheran Church in Centerville and a thirty year volunteer at Bethany Lutheran Village where he and Ruth resided the lasts few years. The funeral will be held on Thursday November 29, 2007 at 2 P.M. Routsong Funeral Home 81 N. Main St. Centerville with Pastor Bob Ashburn officiating. Burial at Centerville Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 12 noon to 2 P.M. at the funeral home. Contributions may be sent in Glen’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, Miami Valley Chapter, The Laurelwood, 3797 Summit Glen Dr., Ste. 100 Dayton, OH 45449 or Hospice of Dayton 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420.
