Donald Dean Myers, May 3, 1930 May 28, 2015. Resided in Dayton, Ohio MYERS, Donald Dean was born on May 3, 1930 in Warren, Ohio to Fred Leo Myers and Ora Blanche Cole. Don passed away on May 28, 2015 from congestive heart failure. Don is preceded by his three brothers, Ray, Al and Gene Myers. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Marilyn, his daughters, Dara Myers, Karen Myers, and Jane Oda; his granddaughters, Sarah and Mary Oda; and son-in-laws, David Oda and Santiago Orozco. As a young man, Don served as a 1st Lieutenant in the Air Force during the Korean War, where he was stationed at McAndrew Air Force Base in Newfoundland, Canada. He received the National Defense Service Medal. Don graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Accounting. After he became a Certified Public Accountant, he operated his own company in Oakwood, Ohio for many years past "normal" retirement age. Don and his wife Marilyn lived in Oakwood for 44 years before moving to Bethany Village. Don was a long-time member of Fairhaven Church in Centerville, Ohio. He was an avid sports fan, and particularly fond of University of Dayton basketball and the Cincinnati Reds. After his retirement, he enjoyed playing bridge, and working as treasurer of the "Go Squared" Investment club with his many friends. Don was a member of the City of Oakwood's Environmental Committee for a number of years, and was instrumental in starting the city's Johnny Appleseed Street Tree planting project which began in 1976. Don will always be remembered by his easy laugh and generous spirit. His family and friends will miss him very much. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Friday, June 26, 2015 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 East Stroop Road, Kettering, Ohio. A short memorial service will follow the visitation at 3:00pm. Burial will take place at Woodland Cemetery, 118 Woodland Ave, Dayton, Ohio. There will be a vehicle procession to Woodland Cemetery immediately following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fairhaven Church, 637 East Whipp Rd., Centerville, Ohio 45459 or to the Alzheimer's Association, 31 West Whipp Rd., Dayton, Ohio 45459.
