Dorothy Rose Smith

SMITH, Dorothy, age 92, from Centerville, passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2010. Dorothy, formerly from Brookville, was a loving and giving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She loved homemaking, cooking, gardening, and her special passion and talent was artistic painting. She was a member of the Dayton Society of Painters & Sculptors, and won numerous awards for her work in watercolor and oils. She is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, Earl E. "Gene" Smith; daughters Genie (Gary) Hutton and Lisa (Jerry) Meranda; grandchildren David (Annmarie) Lawrence, Brian (Carey) Lawrence, Kara (Brian) Westerfield, Matthew Meranda and Chris (Ginny) Meranda; great-grandchildren Noah, Logan and Liam; sister Evelyn (Merle) Steiner; brothers William (Carolee) Mastbaum, Vincent (Marilyn) Mastbaum and Joseph (Patricia) Mastbaum; sisters-in-law Ruby Mastbaum and Barbara Mastbaum; and many other relatives and friends. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents Herman and Dora Mastbaum; brother Robert Mastbaum; and sister Mary McCarthy. Visitation will take place on Friday, April 30, 2010 from 5:00-8:00pm at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 1, at 10:30am at Church of the Incarnation, 7415 Far Hills Ave., Centerville.
