Estelle Skully

March 1, 1934 — November 13, 2017

SKULLY, Estelle, age 83, born March 1, 1934 in Cleveland, Ohio, passed away November 13, 2017 near her home in Dayton, Ohio. Estelle was a graduate of Euclid High School as Salutatorian in 1952. In her post high school years, she was employed by Euclid Road Machinery in the parts books department and also at Schuman Jones Pharmaceutical in the billing department. Upon starting a family, Estelle turned her interest to being a homemaker and raising her five children. A dedicated wife and mother, she was involved in a variety of pursuits involving her children including Little Baseball as Publicity Agent and Player Agent, a Den Mother for Cub Scouts, and Mother Daughter Bowling. She also pursued her bowling interests on a Mixed Couples and Womens Bowling League. Other interests included guitar playing, needlework, knitting, crewel, cross stitch, puzzling and games or cards of any kind. She is famous within the family for completing one painting, one poem and one short story. Estelle used music to find joy and also as a language and connection to her loved ones; each of whom have fond memories of listening to a variety of musical selections and then discussing music and artists at length. Estelle could only be described by all that knew her, no matter how briefly, as a kind, gentle, sweet, loving, genuine, and generous soul. Known for her sharp wit and quick mind, a visit with her would seem short, even if you had been visiting for hours; it was never enough. Preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Diana Bozell, her brother James Bozell, niece Susan Slattery and nephew Stevie Palmer. She is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 62 years, Blase James Sr., sister, Georgene Palmer; children-Diane Terese, Blase Skully Jr., Lisa Morris, David Skully and Gina Skully, 3 granddaughters-Estelle Collins-Ibarra, Jacqueline Campo, and Kristen Huff; 5 grandsons-Blase Skully, Dane Skully, Joseph Yablonski, Cody Skully and Billy Lawton; great-grandchildren-Chelsea White, Autumn and April Huff, Lisa and Hector Ibarra, and her many nieces and nephews. Her ability to cope and the fortitude she displayed battling a long term illness in the second half of her life has served as an inspiration to many. Without complaint, her problems were never bigger than anyone elses. She dedicated her attention to loving and doting on her cherished husband, children, and grandchildren. She was able to give anyone she met or talked to a greater sense of self and purpose when they left her presence. She will leave a lasting impression on the world through the legacy of her children and grandchildren. She was not ours to keep. May her journey now give her the freedom to soar with the eagles and dance amongst the stars. Condolences and other remembrances may be sent to the family at www.routsong.com.
