Frank Alan Jones

November 23, 1937 — September 10, 2001

aka ''Lado'' and ''The Golf Gerbil'', age 63 of Oakwood, died Monday, September 10, 2001. He was a graduate of Middletown High School, class of 1955 and Denison University, class of 1959 where he was a member of Kappa Sigma and Theta Eta Chi. Frank served as an officer in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1963. He worked for AK Steel for 29 years and most recently was president of Custom Steel. Preceded in death by his parents, Harold W. and Eleanor Moren Jones; a sister, Marilyn Jones Douglas; and infant son, Matthew Prentis Jones. Survived by his wife of 34 years, Mary; 3 sons, Frank Andrew of Athens, GA, Matthew Moore and his wife, Kerri of Chicago, IL and James Prentis of Denver, CO; a brother, Thomas C. of Melbourne, FL; and many wonderful friends. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 33 W. Dixon Ave., Oakwood with Rev. John F. Koepke, III officiating. If desired contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, Inc., P.O. Box 3509, Dayton, Ohio 45402-3509 or your charity of choice. Frank will always be remembered for his kindness, great sense of humor, and his love for golf - the one regret he may have with leaving this earth so hastily is never having shot his age. We love you Lado and will carry you in our hearts for our lifetimes.
