HICKERSON, George Hallas, age 90, of Dayton passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2012.
George attended Steele High School, and served in the US Navy on the USS Louisville during World War II. He worked at Delco Moraine as a project engineer for 39 years, retiring in 1984. He owned over 50 GM vehicles in his life. He was an avid fisherman, woodworker, boater and traveler. The love he had for his family will stay with us forever.
Preceded in death by his wife, Edna Mae Hickerson; son-in-law, Pat Skow; and three brothers and four sisters. George is survived by his children, Carolyn Skow of Tipp City, Lynda (Douglas) Hoffman of Kettering, Marilyn Gideon of Dayton and Patty Chambers of Louisville, KY; grandchildren, DeAnna (Dr. Michael) Kaup of Hilton Head, SC, Brian (Jeanette) Skow of Alexandria, VA, Holly Hoffman of Kettering, Jeramy (Tara) Webb of Malden, MA, Timothy (Jessika) Webb of Oakwood, Jordan Black and Hannah Black of Louisville, KY; great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Savannah, Sophia, Isabella, Ty, and Brynnly; special nephew, Jack Harmon.
Family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00pm on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at ROUTSONG FUNERAL HOME, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. A funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Monday, April 23, 2012 at the funeral home with Rev. Darlene Hensley officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, West Carrollton, OH. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
