Harley L. Tipton

TIPTON, Harley L., of Kettering, passed away Friday, September 11, 2009. He was born in Cades Cove, TN and graduated from Townsend High School. Harley retired from NCR after 28 years as a Group Leader. Before moving to Dayton, he worked at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Harley was a 32nd Degree Mason and was a loving and devoted husband and father whom will be deeply missed by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Nola Coomer and Vina Skidmore. Harley is survived by his beloved wife, Ina; daughter Deb (Craig) Norris of Germantown ; two sisters, Grace Hutsell and Louise Loan; brother, Otis Tipton, and several nieces and nephews, including Donna Lewchenko, Don Skidmore and Ken Skidmore. He had a very special place in his heart for his only daughter, Deb. He enjoyed traveling, the outdoors, trout fishing and working in his garden. Harley was passionate about University of Tennessee Volunteers football and was an avid fan. Private services will be held at Smith Funeral Home in Maryville, TN with burial in Cades Cove area of the Great Smokey Mountains National Park.
