HOUSER, Howard R., age 92, of Centerville passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at St. Leonard’s Health Care Center. Howard was a graduate of the University of Dayton in 1934 and a member of South Park United Methodist Church for over 60 years. He was the Director of Product Planning for Frigidaire and wrote all the manuals and advertising materials. Howard served as Trustee and President for the Children’s Bureau of Dayton and Family Services of Dayton, and was also Charter Director of the Children’s’ Psychiatric Hospital of Dayton. He was Past President and active member of the Centerville Historical Society becoming known as the Centerville Historian. Howard edited A Sense of Place wrote seven books on the history of Centerville and the surrounding area. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna in January 1998. Howard is survived by his daughter, Mary (Donald) Newman of Cincinnati, OH; son Richard Houser of Centerville; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer Kelly, Andrew and Nicki Newman; 4 great-granddaughters, Grace, Hannah and Rachael Kelly and Emily Newman. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:00 PM at St. Leonard’s Chapel, Centerville. Burial in Woodland Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 12:30 - 1:00 PM prior to the service.
