Jack L. Wissman

WISSMAN, Jack L., age 81, of Centerville, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2016. Jack was born on April 19, 1935 in Dayton to Leo and Margaret (Sanning) Wissman. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1954 and went on to earn two degrees from the School of Engineering at the University of Dayton in 1957 and 1964. Jack worked at Durion (Flowserve) for over 40 years as Manager of Engineering and led the R&D Olympic Project Team there. He was an avid skier and enjoyed well over 50 resorts in North America and Europe. In addition, he served on the National Ski Patrol and was a member of the Dayton Ski Club. He also loved flying and was a Flight Instructor and Crew Chief for single and multi-engine planes at the Dayton Pilots Club. Jack had a passion for historical aircraft and found great joy in being able to volunteer at the Air Force Museum in their restoration department for over ten years. He was a member of EAA, Friends of the Museum, and AOPA. Other activities where he spent significant time included motorcycles, water skiing, sailing, scuba diving, fishing, and hunting. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ethel Kucharsky; and brothers, Bob Wissman and Tom Wissman. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Pat; children, Michael (Carole) Wissman and Dianne (Jeff Miller) DeHaven; grandchildren, Lauren Wissman, Tyler and Zachary DeHaven, Robert (Sahar) Conrad and Barbara (Richard) Chavez; and great-grandchild, Latham Chavez. He will be dearly missed by all. The family will greet friends from 9:30-10:30am on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held following the visitation at 11:00am on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Church of the Incarnation, 7415 Far Hills Ave., Centerville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420 or to any charity of your choice.
