PENCE, Jack R., age 83, of Beavercreek, formerly of Girard, OH, passed away September 29, 2004 at Miami Valley Hospital. Jack was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and beloved wife, Kathryn. Two precious granddaughters, Elizabeth (Betsy) and Becky also preceded him in death. His children are now left to carry on his legacy of trying to find humor in even the most difficult situations. They are: daughter, Beppie Walerius, of Findlay; son, Jack (Merrie Lou) Pence of Beavercreek; and daughter, Cindy (Larry) Burgess of Kettering. Jack was so proud of his grandchildren and their many accomplishments, and they will miss their Pop’s colorful stories and tales about his phenomenal life. They are: Holly (Jason), Melissa (Ben), Julie (Craig), Margaret, Katie, Lisa, Jack, and Laura. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, and good friends, including his devoted canine buddy, Sadie. Jack proudly served our country as a radioman aboard a B-17 in the 8th Air Force during WWII. He was a retired pressman for the Youngstown Vindicator and an avid clockmaker, woodworker, and gardener. Jack was a lifetime member of The First Baptist Church in Girard, OH and most recently a member of Kirkmont Presbyterian Church in Beavercreek. Funeral services will be held, Saturday, October 2, 2004 at 10:00 AM at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering with Rev. Eric Laverentz officiating. Family will receive friends from 5 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Burial in Valley View Cemetery, Xenia. In memory of Jack, contributions may be made to Salvation Army, P.O.
