James A. Wood

WOOD, James A., age 87 of Kettering, passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2010. James graduated from Greenville High School in 1941 and received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Tri-State University. He enlisted in the US Navy in December of 1941 where he served as an aviation crew chief during WWII in Central America and the South Pacific. After returning from WWII, James worked as a sales engineer for American Rockwool, RDP Assoc. and MTS Corp for over 50 years. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Dayton Engineers Club, Greenville VFW, Dayton Council on World Affairs and the American Society of Automotive Engineers. James was a hardworking businessman who also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends hiking, fishing and traveling. Preceded in death by his first wife of 26 years, Marjorie Louise Wood (nee Marker); sister, Shirley Roll and brother, Donald Wood. James is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Dana; son, COL (Ret) David Wood USA and wife Tracey; daughter Marcia; granddaughter Kristen and husband Lt. Scott Riffle USN, their children Harrison and Eleanor; grandson 1LT Erik Wood USA; and step-daughter, Andrea, her husband Rev. David Handley; their children Rachel; Megan, her husband Harout Katerjian, and Derek; step-daughter Vail, her husband John McGuire and their daughter Dana, her husband Jon Grilli. Family will greet friends on Friday, November 26 from 5:00-8:00PM at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, OH. Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1:00PM at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 125 North Wilkinson St., Dayton, OH 45409. Burial will take place at 10:00AM in Abbottsville Cemetery, Arcanum, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church in his memory.
