James Lett

LETT, James Edward, 88, of Ashland KY, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2012 in Clearwater, FL. Beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he was born February 7, 1924 in Steubenville, OH to Roy J and Molly Coleman Lett. He was a loving, faithful husband of nearly sixty years to Helen Mokas Lett, and father to Susan Lett Raila, both of whom preceded him in death. A pilot in the US Army Air Force in World War II, he flew in the South Pacific and was in occupied Japan. He retired from the insurance industry, and was a Certified Life Underwriter. He is survived by his son, James Lett II MD; daughter in-law, Dr. Cheryl Phillips; former daughter-in-law, Margaret Lett; 4 granddaughters, Rebecca Lett Adams, Jennie Lett Garraffa, Angela Raila Leiby, Maria Raila; and, six great-grandchildren. Humorous, positive and engaged in life, he taught us all how to live. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at 10:00am at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 500 Belmonte Park North, Dayton, OH 45405. A visitation will take place prior to the service from 9:00am-10:00am also at the church. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
