Jean (Maier) Long

September 4, 1921 — October 3, 2021

LONG, Jean (Maier), age 100, of Centerville, OH, died Sunday, October 3, 2021.

She had a zest for life and an amazing outlook that touched everyone she met. Jean was a long-time member of the South Park Methodist Church of which she was a past President of the Women's group. She was instrumental in the production of their world-famous caramels for over 40 years. She performed jokes every month at the Bethany Lutheran Village Cocktail hour and was a member of the Red Hat Society.

Jean loved attending gatherings to play cards, celebrate special occasions and send greeting cards to everyone for every reason. Her kindness and generosity are unmatched. She was the Queen of cards and the Queen of hearts. Nothing made her happier than to be surrounded by her family, which included her Bethany and church family, as well.

Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Paul, of 59 years. She is survived by her children, Bill (Julie) Long and Nancy (Wayne) Daum; four grandchildren, Melanie Lowe Fleischer, Matt Lowe, Paul (Lindsay) Slivka and David Long; eight great-grandchildren, Paul, Max and Miranda Fleischer, Daniel and Audrey Slivka, Keller, Penny and Oscar Lowe; niece Kathryn S. Maier, of Cincinnati and other family members.

Funeral Services will be held 11AM on Thursday, October 7 at The Woodland Mausoleum, Woodland Cemetery, 118 Woodland Avenue, Dayton, Ohio. Family will greet friends one hour prior (10AM) at the mausoleum.
