Joan M. Weathers

WEATHERS, Joan M. (RAKAR) age 63 of Centerville, Ohio passed away peacefully into the loving arms of the Lord on Saturday, January 12, 2013. Joan was born July 13, 1949 in Dayton, Ohio, daughter of Raymond and Anne Rakar. Joan is survived by her parents, Raymond and Anne Rakar, sister, Martha Hoke, brother, John Rakar (Sandy), sister, Kathleen Simpson (Ken). The most joyful and precious times of her life were with her children and their families; daughter, Christine Gajda (Jacek) and two grandsons, Krzysiek and Marcin of Rockford, Illinois and daughter, Jocelyn Monis (Rich) and granddaughter, Kayla and grandson, Alex of Naperville, Illinois. Other survivors include nieces Rachel Hoke, Emily Berger, Erika Chapman and nephew, Phill Rakar, as well as great nephews, Joel and Nathan and great nieces, Zoe, Isabelle and Kiyrra. Joan enjoyed sharing fun stories of days gone by as a swimmer with the Dayton Dolphins from the 1960's, followed by winning a National YMCA Championship Title with the Kettering Y. She graduated from Fairmont East High School and attended Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. After years spent devoted to her children, she took great pride in her work in a paint deposition role at Delphi-Kettering and retired in 2012. As a pet enthusiast, Joan has been involved in the care of friend and family pets for many years as well. On behalf of Joan, her family would like to thank all of those who touched her life and the lives of her family and how blessed they have been to have had her as a loving daughter, sister and mother that walked with God. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Humane Society of Dayton, Ohio. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 18th. Friends will be received by the family from 4:30-5:30pm, followed by a Life Celebration Service from 5:30-6:30pm at Centerville Christian Fellowship, 700 E. Spring Valley Pike, Centerville, Ohio 45458.
