June 16, 1943 — January 30, 2020

STATEN, John Edward, age 76 of Centerville, passed away January 30, 2020. John was born on June 16, 1943 in Salem, West Virginia to Raymond and Wilma (Burnside) Staten.

He was a graduate of Patterson Co-Op High School in 1961 and began working at O’Neil & Associates shortly thereafter. John was a respected Dayton businessman and philanthropist who donated countless hours and dollars to organizations of all types. He was a member of Rotary Club, Buick Skylark Club, MENSA and mentored area youth.

John was also a devoted family man who loved traveling, golfing, fishing, bowling and classic cars; particularly his own 1953 Buick Skylark which he took pride in showing off. He was a talented artist who enjoyed painting in his free time. A die-hard Republican, John was engaged in politics and was fortunate to have met many candidates in person. He was an avid reader with a passion for learning; always seeking museums and historical landmarks to visit when traveling. He was an innovative man who grew his company exponentially, once winning the honor of Entrepreneur of the Year. There is no doubt John Staten leaves an impactful legacy.
