John R. Friesinger Ii

FRIESINGER, John R. II, age 75, of Cherry Grove, South Carolina, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2020 surrounded by family. John was born June 20, 1945 in Zanesville, Ohio to John and Barbara Jean (Sheppard) Friesinger.

After graduating from Zanesville High School, he enlisted in the Army, serving in Vietnam as an operating room specialist. Following his service John met the love of his life, Wanda Warren, who he married in 1972. He was a longtime supervisor at the Tiffin Developmental Center, where he was passionate about planning events and bringing joy to the residents of the center and his fellow co-workers. John continued his service later in life by enlisting with the Ohio Army National Guard, where he was affectionately referred to as “Dad” by the younger guardsmen he led.

John never met a stranger and will be remembered for always being able to bring his friends and loved ones together. His favorite activity was making other people happy through gestures large and small.

John is preceded in death by his father, John R. Friesinger I. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Wanda Friesinger; children, John (Jennifer) Friesinger III and Pat (Pom C. Kim) Friesinger; grandchildren, Lillian and Vincent Friesinger, Madison and Brandon Kim; mother Barbara Jean Friesinger; siblings, Susan (Bill) Moore and Eric (Marianne) Friesinger; as well as numerous extended family and friends.

A private service will be held on September 19, 2020. Inurnment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Tiffin, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Feed the Children. The family would like to thank Tami and Cameron Parker for all the loving care and companionship they provided John.
