Joy Faye Back

BACK, Joy Faye (Haley), age 84, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 22, 2017 from the complications of Cancer at Kettering Hospital. Joy was born on November 12, 1932 to Ted and Fannie Haley in Pathfork, KY. They soon relocated and she grew up in Rose Hill VA, in a Loving Christian home located near Cumberland Gap TN. As a young woman she came to Dayton, OH and furthered her education in Cosmetology where she owned and operated Joys Beauty Shop as a hairdresser for over 56 years. She and her late husband became members of the Fairview Baptist church where she enjoyed being a greeter and was a member for over 20 years. Joy was a loving, devoted mother, and her most treasured position was taking care of her husband, son and beloved granddaughters. She was a lady with an amazing Green Thumb and loved her flowers. In addition to being a wonderful cook, she loved baking during the holidays; her Jam Cakes, Carrot Cakes, Molasses Cookies and Grannys Fudge; all of which will be forever missed. Her love and devotion of family was evident. Her warm smile, gentle demeanor, kind spirit, and unconditional love will be sadly missed, she was truly one of a kind. Joy was preceded in death by her late husband Raymond K. Back, parents, and brother, H.C. Haley. She is survived by her only child, William K. Back, J.D.; grandchildren; Christina J. Back, J.D. and Sarah M. Back. A special thank you to Sheila Carr for her genuine compassion and continued true friendship. The family will greet friends from 2-5pm on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd, Kettering. A funeral service will take place at 11:30 on Monday, July 31, 2017 at Routsong Funeral Home. Burial at Dayton National Cemetery.
