Judy Arlene Smith

Judith Arlene (Jenkins) Smith, 80 years old, a resident of Carriage Court, Washington Court House, formerly of Jeffersonville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2022.


Judith was born on January 8, 1942, to Guy and Zelma Jenkins in Piqua, Ohio. After Judith graduated from Graham High School, St. Paris, in 1960, she started working.

In 1961, Judith married Lawrence Richard Smith in St. Paris. Judith and Richard went on to have five children. They were married for 59 years and lived most of their lives in Jeffersonville.


On May 22, 2017, Judith retired from Miami Trace School District after 34 years, working in the cafeteria at Miami Trace High School. Her hobbies included quilting, crocheting, gardening, raising chickens, playing cards, cooking, and canning vegetables. She enjoyed entering her baked goods and crafts in the local fair. She was a member of a local quilt club and card club.


Judith was proceeded in death by her husband, Lawrence, her parents; Guy and Zelma, her sister Mildred Strickrott, brothers; Melvin, Richard, Wayne, and Lynn Jenkins. She is survived by a brother, Ronald Mark Jenkins, children; Judith M. Piatt (Robert), Michael Smith (Nancy), Jodi Shaw(Robert), Shelly Lamers (Lance), and Shawn Smith (Melinda), 12 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.


Private family services in the care of Routsong Funeral Home, will be held graveside at Woodland Cemetery on Friday December 16, 2022.
