Katherine C. Booth

October 20, 1913 — February 15, 2012

BOOTH, Katherine Rutherford Cady, died on February 15, 2011 at the age of 98. Descended from a prominent Athens, GA family and having been born in Atlanta, Katherine spent many happy summers in Lakemont, GA during her early years. Graduating from Senn High School in Chicago, she attended Northwestern after which she married Chuck Booth. As a young mother, she was very active serving as a librarian, writing a newspaper column, and working with Chuck to form a Cub Scout pack. Arriving in Dayton in 1959, Katherine moved into her Mad River Road home where she lived for 53 years. Devoted to nature, she nurtured and enjoyed the wild flowers surrounding her home and the birds visiting outside her kitchen window. She was an early supporter of the Cox Arboretum, becoming a tour guide in 1981 and sharing her love of nature with Dayton's young people. She is survived by her sons and daughters in law- John and Marcia and Tom and Frances, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.routsong.com.
