Kenneth Byron Heaton

HEATON, Kenneth Byron, age 74 of Kettering, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at Kettering Memorial Hospital. Ken was a graduate of Centerville High School, Class of 1966, and received a BA from the University of Dayton in 1988. After 25 years of service, he retired from Goodwill Easter Seals where he contributed to the betterment of the community by helping others find jobs. He took great pride in being one of the first volunteers to work with the Montgomery County Juvenile Court CASA Program as a child advocate. His love of football naturally lead him to coach the Centerville youth football team. He was a continuous member of several Masonic Lodges, including Rock Moriah Lodge #740, Far Hills Lodge #784, Dayton Lodge #147. In retirement, he pursued painting as a creative outlet, enjoying the serenity it afforded him. It was with great joy that he was able to watch his grandson graduate from Miami University this past spring. He was proud of the accomplishments of all of his children and grandchildren.

Ken was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth L. and Elizabeth M. Heaton; as well as, his sister Shirley Smith and grandson Jakob C. Hill (you got him first). He is survived by his wife Janice, children Melinda “Mindy” (Brian) Leet. Melissa, and Michael “Joe” (Michael Cox); step-children Jason (Michelle) Kerr, Jessica (Tom) Kolb, Lindsay Heeter, Shannon (David) Wilton, David (Lisa) Treadway and Tracy Treadway. As well as his grandchildren Chase, Michaela, Mia and Maria-Kyana.

The immediate family will greet extended family and friends for a visitation at 2pm on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, followed by a memorial and Masonic service at 3pm at Routsong Funeral Home, Kettering, Ohio.
