February 21, 1947 — September 10, 2021

MCSWAIN, Linda Kay (Matheson), age 74, of Sugarcreek Township passed away Friday, September 10, 2021. She was a graduate of Beavercreek High School, class of 1965, and a former member of the Dayton Area Board of Realtors. In 1981, she became the co-owner, and ascended to Vice-President of Kettering Overhead Door before her retirement in 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack G. and Mary (Constantine) Matheson of Dayton, OH, and an infant brother, James E. Matheson. Linda was a caretaker above all else, she was fiercely protective of her family and friends, and extraordinarily caring for all those around her. She is survived by her loving and beloved husband of 53 years, Alex T McSwain, Jr; her daughters, Deb McSwain Roenker, and Rebecca McSwain Owen & husband Scott; granddaughters, Kayleigh Roenker and Clara Owen; and grandson Will Owen; as well as brother, Dennis Matheson; and special niece Abby Matheson Kuhn & 3 grandnephews. Linda is also survived by her children-by-marriage, Tracy McSwain and Kim Hillard, their families, children and grandchildren.

As a young wife and mother, Linda became involved in helping soccer take root in Centerville, both coaching and serving on the board of SAY soccer, and later, Soccer Centerville where she formed many longtime friendships. She also gave lots of time and many cheers to the Centerville High School Soccer Program. She was active in, and had many friends in Oak Creek South's neighborhood organization and craft clubs and was an avid volunteer at Normandy Elementary School and Centerville High School. As her children grew, she pursued her love of golf, even landing a hole-in-one, and making many dear friends at Sugar Valley Country Club. She revisited her early love of sewing as her grandchildren and their friends participated in costumed performing arts activities. She attended all of her grandchildren's events with great pride and happiness as long as she was able to do so.
