Margaret Wynell Frey

FREY, Margaret Wynell, (Peg) age 74 of Dayton, passed away on Friday, September 30, 2022. Margaret was born in Dayton to the late George and Polly Frey on October 22, 1947. She graduated from Belmont High School in 1965 and ultimately received her PHD from The University of Dayton in 2000. 

She was a school psychologist for Dayton Public Schools. After retirement from DPS, she continued to consult with them on the No Child Left Behind program. Margaret was principal of Keifer Academy in Springfield, OH, and a member of the adjunct faculty at Wright State University. She loved reading, needle work, and playing cards. She was also a brilliant soprano and sang with the Dayton Bach Society and Liederkranz-Turner Choir. 

Margaret was preceded in death by her brother, Don Frey; nieces, Krista Frey and Nancy Frey; and nephew, Michael Frey. She is survived her daughter, Cynthia Frey, brother, Anthony Frey, sister-in-law, Suzanne Frey, and niece Beth Frey-Andresen along with cousins, great nieces and nephews, and a plethora of friends. Peg was also “Mom 2” to her “Womb to Tomb” friend, Sally Shafor’s kids, Casey Boardwine and Jared Ross Tipton. She was also Nana Frey to Casey’s kids, Kirsten and Sam Boardwine. A Celebration of Life will be held on October 22, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 East Stroop Rd, Kettering, OH 45429.A reception will follow at the home of Casey and Todd Boardwine, 1326 Hidden Creek Rd, Miamisburg, OH 45342.
