Marilyn J. Shoemaker

SHOEMAKER, Marilyn Jane, age 85 of Kettering, passed away Tuesday, Aug 29, 2017 at Hospice of Dayton. She was born on January 3, 1932, the daughter of Leland V. and Gladys (Marling) Norris. She was a 1950 graduate of Fairmont High School. She had been employed by NCR, Rike's, and was a Deputy Clerk for the Auto Title Dept. of Montgomery County, but her favorite "job" was creating a home for her family. She had been a member of the Calvary Open Bible Church and East Dayton Baptist Church. Preceded in death by husband, Estel "J" Shoemaker, son, Rick Shoemaker, brothers Don, Ed, Leland Jr., and sister, Jean Crago, and companion Jesse Crowe. Survived by son, Brian Shoemaker and his wife, Rhonda; daughter, Lori Hellmund and her husband, George; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Shoemaker; 6 grandchildren, Jennifer (Brian) Clifford, Sarah (Dale) Gillespie, Daniel (Erin) Hellmund, Jared Hellmund, Travis (Lauren) Hellmund and Andrew (Ashley) Shoemaker; 6 great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Carli, and McKenna Clifford, Sophia, William, and Emma Hellmund. Brother; Ralph Norris (Peg), Sisters in law; Joyce Smith-Day (Jim) and Marilyn Norris; plus numerous nieces & nephews. The family will greet friends Friday, September 1, from 5-7pm at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd, Kettering and on Saturday, September 2, from 10-11am. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday, also at Routsong Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave, Dayton, OH 45420.
