Marilyn Sue Major

August 12, 1949 — January 31, 2022

MAJOR, Marilyn Sue, age 72, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022. Sue was born on August 12, 1949, in Wathena, Kansas, the second youngest of eight children to the late Lorna and William Hendrix. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Michael E. Major in 2005; three brothers; and two sisters.

Raised in St. Joseph, Missouri, she graduated from Benton High School in 1967. In 1968, she married Mike; they started a family and moved many times with his Iams Company career. From Missouri to Kansas, Texas, Southern and Northern California, Ohio and London, England, Sue created a home everywhere she went, discovering the best sights, new friends, and hidden treasures in every place she lived. Her favorite spot was anywhere her grandchildren were.

When she and Mike converted to Catholicism in 2005, she embarked on her most cherished adventure, her faith journey. She was active in her parish of St. Albert the Great in Kettering and, later, St. Mary of the Assumption in Springboro. Her thirst for knowledge of the Catholic faith guided her life, which she sustained with daily Mass, Bible study, Catholic media, and numerous faith formation opportunities. What she didn’t know, she challenged herself to find out and share with others. Her religious education and enthusiasm had no boundaries. Sue’s path was clearly marked for Heaven, and she took every opportunity to live as the hands and feet of Christ to reach that goal. Generosity and thoughtfulness were her hallmark. Friends, family, acquaintances and even some strangers are forever changed for having crossed her path in this life, and we know she helped many meet her in the next.

Sue is survived by her son, Brandon (Annetta) Major; daughter, Stacie (Chris) Doench; grandchildren, Mikaela, Grant, Tyler, Aubrey, and Owen; brother, Roger Hendrix; sister, Judy Sears; and countless nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.
