Maxwell Dean "Max" Hazen

May 8, 1978 — April 18, 2021

HAZEN, Maxwell Dean "Max”, passed away unexpectedly in Centerville, OH on April 18, 2021 at the age of 42.

Max is survived by his parents; wife Barbara (Aleckson); twin sons Jackson and Ethan; Barbara’s Parents (Wendy and Hal/ Susan and Paul); Brother-in-law Greg (Betsy); and a large extended family of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Niece, Nephew and in-laws that adored him. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Louis and Sylvia Hazen, and Dean and Frances Rinehart, as well as his Uncle William Rinehart.

Max was born on May 8, 1978 in Columbus, OH to Bill and Judy Hazen and grew up in Upper Arlington. He was a proud Golden Bear Class of 1996. He met Barbara on an Alaskan cruise in 1993 at the age of 15 and began a long distance relationship that would last through college built on written letters, one weekly phone call, AOL dial up internet, and a lot of plane rides and road trips. After graduating from Wright State University in 2001 with a degree in psychology, he started his career in Real Estate where he made many lifelong friends with both fellow agents and clients. He married Barbara on April 26, 2003. They were ecstatic to welcome identical twin boys in January, 2005 and settled in Centerville, OH to raise them.

Max was the biggest Ohio State Football fan and spent the entire year waiting to watch the games and cheer along with a group of friends. He loved cooking for his family and enjoyed catering for small events and delighting everyone with his homemade BBQ sauce. He got a kick out of playing practical jokes; loved road trips; skiing in Breckenridge; playing with his dogs, Auggie and Maddie; and was the most thoughtful gift giver. But the thing he enjoyed the most was being a father. He was an amazing dad who beamed with pride when talking about his boys and loved nothing more than watching them grow up and enjoying time together as a family. His sons will remember how their father wanted the very best for them and was their biggest cheerleader and always supported their interests.
