SWINDERMAN, Mercedes C., age 93, of Kettering passed away Sunday, December 19, 2004 after a short illness at Kettering Medical Center. Mercedes has been a member of Church of the Ascension since 1969. She was a graduate of Julienne High School, a member of the Women’s Democratic Club, and a poll volunteer. Among her many hobbies were sewing, crafts with glass, candles holders, and playing cards. She enjoyed and collected Lennox and Waterford Crystal. Mercedes was preceded in death by her parents, Patrick Edward and Catherine (Varley) Carey; 2 brothers, Edward and William and; 3 sisters, Julia, Mary and Sarah. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Edward Swinderman; sons, Edward (Anna) Swinderman of Spring, TX and William (Linda) Swinderman of Vandalia, OH; daughter, Catherine (Kate) (Robert) Hardman M.D. of Kettering; 7 grandchildren, Laura Gorman, Tracy, Eric, Brian, and Chris Swinderman, Jackie Gaskins and Kenneth J. Hashimoto; 5 great grandchildren, Heath, Hailey, Patrick, Anthony, and Dalton; sister-in-law, Mrs. Janet Carey of Oakwood, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, at 10:00 AM at Church of the Ascension. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Family will receive friends Tuesday from 5-8:00 PM at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering.
