STATHES, Paul G., age 86 of Kettering, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 30, 2009. The sixth child of the late Gust & Chriso Stathes, Paul graduated from Roosevelt High School and attended Sinclair Community College. He proudly served his country in the United States Army in World War II under General Patton and fought during the Battle of the Bulge in the 3rd Army 808th Battalion tank destroyer unit during which he received three bronze stars. Following his honorable discharge he went to work for 37 years at NCR and later for 10 years at Delco Products. Mr. Stathes was a lifelong member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church and was a member of AHEPA. He was an avid OSU, Cincinnati Red's fan and a former member of NCR C. C. His family and friends will always remember him for his unending love for his wife Ann and his devotion to family, quiet dignity and determination, sense of humor, and charming smile. Preceded in death by four siblings, Paul is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Ann Stathes (nee Thomas) and their two devoted children, daughter Christine Couchot and husband Larry, and son Deno Stathes and wife LaVonna. Paul was a proud and loving grandfather of his three grandchildren, Elizabeth Stekli and husband Justin, Michael Callahan, and Nicholas Stathes as well as his great-granddaughter, Kayden Stekli. Mr. Stathes is also survived by two sisters; Julia Zavakos and Eva Kokenakis along with numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM on Monday, August 3, 2009 at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 500 Belmonte Park North with Father Bill Cassis officiating. Burial in Woodland Cemetery, Dayton. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00PM on Sunday, August 2, at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, OH 45429 with Trisagon prayers at 5:00PM. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 500 Belmonte Park North, Dayton, OH 45405.
