LANE, Raynald “Ray” A., M.D., age 88, of Springboro, OH, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2022. He was born on July 17, 1934 in Marietta, OH to the late Raymond and Pearl (Hoff) Lane.
Ray graduated Manga Cum Laude from Marietta College in 1956 and was President of the Alpha Sigma Pi Fraternity and the student body. He graduated from McGill University Medical School in 1961, where he was class President of the student body.
Ray completed his Internship at Cincinnati General Hospital in 1962, and his Internal Medicine Residency and Cardiology Fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital (Detroit) in 1968.
He served as a Medical Officer of the United States Air Force in Lincoln, NE from 1963 to 1965. Ray moved on to be the Director of Cardiology, Vice President of Medical Affairs, and a member of the Board of Trustees at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Dayton, OH from 1969 to 1999.
Family and Christian faith were very important to Ray. He was a longtime member of Centerville Community Church and active on the Board of Elders.
In his free time Ray could often be found outside working in the yard or watching/attending professional and college sports. He was an avid reader and fond of all types of books, especially those that enriched his Christian faith. Ray’s gift in life was making meaningful connections with those around him. He touched many hearts, not only through his work as a compassionate physician, but also through time spent with his family and friends.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bill; sister, Hazel Roe; first wife, Sandra (Espenshied) Lane; son, Todd; and grandson, Robert.
He is survived by his loving wife, Holly Hart Lane; sons, Bruce (Karen), Chip, and Jeff (Amy); step-daughter, Katie Pendleton; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 4-7 pm on Tuesday, December 13, at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St. Centerville, OH 45459. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 am, the following day, at Centerville Community Church, 10688 Dayton Lebanon Pike, Centerville, OH 45458, with burial to follow at Miami Valley Memory Gardens.
