Robert Eugene Hannaford

HANNAFORD, Robert Eugene, age 81, passed away December 25, 2016 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born August 25, 1935 in Tulsa, OK to the late Edith Geraldine and Marion Hannaford. Robert graduated from Central High School in Tulsa, OK in 1953. He joined the United States Coast Guard in 1959 and was honorably discharged in 1963. He worked for Burroughs Corporation and, after coming to Dayton in 1964, he worked at WPAFB then at Monsanto in Miamisburg. Later he was instrumental as Vice-President for the newly started company, APS Materials. After retiring in 1999, cancer struck Robert several times and he succumbed to the last cancer on December 25, 2016. Robert is survived by his wife of 51 years, Irma Eugenie Hannaford; son, Kevin Q. Hannaford; daughter, Renate Lester; grandchildren, Carsten and Tara Hannaford; niece, Teresa Keen; and several nephews. A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 East Stroop Rd., Kettering. The family will greet friends following the service until 3:30pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420.
