Ronald Kermit Newman

NEWMAN, Ronald K., age 78, of Kettering passed away Thursday, April 11, 2013. Ron was a graduate of Fairmont High School in 19 53. He received his BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1957 and received a Masters of Engineering in 1967 from the University of Dayton. Ron worked at the University of Dayton Research Institute for 40 years as a student and full time after graduation. Ron enjoyed playing bridge, fishing, hunting, golfing and bowling and was a fan of the UD Flyers. He was an accomplished woodworker who made beautiful custom furniture in his woodshop for his family and grandchildren. Ron volunteered for Ascension Catholic Church and was in charge of revenues from Bingo. He was a devout Catholic, loving husband of 54 years to wife Martha, and beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Ron loved helping his family and never said no to anyone who ever asked for help. He was preceded in death by his father, Kermit Howard Newman. Ron is survived by his mother, Louise Newman of St. Leonard's Assisted Living Center; wife, Martha Newman; son, Christopher Newman and his wife Susan of West Alexandria; daughter, Linda Thomas and her husband Randel of Kettering and their sons Matthew and Nicholas; son, Mark Newman of New Lebanon and his daughters April and Autumn, fianc Matthew Pinkerton and granddaughter Holli Pinkerton; son, Michael Newman and fiance Tammy Eisen of West Carrollton and his son Daniel; daughter, Laura White and her husband Jason of Chicago, IL and their children Nathan, Lindsey and Emily. Family will greet friends from 4:00-8:00pm on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 East Stroop Road, Kettering. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am on Monday, April 15, 2013 at Ascension Catholic Church, 2025 Woodman Dr., Kettering.
