Scott B. Stimmel

STIMMEL, Scott B. age 61 of Dayton, Ohio lost his battle with cancer on Tuesday, August 4th at his home surrounded by family. He was a graduate of St. Michael's High School, Cleveland, Ohio in 1966 and from the University of Dayton in 1970 where he was a member of Rho Rho Rho Fraternity. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War era, serving in Germany from 1970-1972. After returning he joined the Dayton Police Department in September, 1975. Over his 33 year career he worked in every aspect of the police force, including: the Hostage Negotiation Team, Division 2 Task Force , Sergeant of the Mounted Unit and Sergeant in charge of the Central Business District. He served as the Treasurer of the Fraternal Order of Police from 1986-2007. He also worked as head of security for the Victoria and Schuster Theater Association 1999-2009. Through these two avenues he made countless lifelong friends, enriched the lives of everyone he came to know and made an impact on the community where he lived. Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Noreen and Samuel Stimmel. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sherry; his son, Craig (Pam); his brothers, Darryl (Robin), Cory of Palm Harbor, FL; sister, Marla Wilk (Mark) of Cleveland, his nieces and nephew and his sister-in-law, Bettina Bellucci of Cincinnati. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 7th from 4:00-8:30 PM at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Road, Kettering, Ohio. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 8th at Holy Angels Church, 223 L St., Dayton, Ohio.
