SPRINGSTON, Steven, age 62, of Kettering, OH, passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2023.
After graduating from Kettering Fairmont High School in 1978, Steve joined the U.S. Army. Post his time serving, Steve spent a brief time in Alabama as a police officer. He then found himself drawn to fire fighting in Kettering where he spent many years. Steve ended his career path as an Emergency Room Technician with Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. He was known for attending St. Sure Shot Parish on Dorothy Lane for darts, billiards, and friends. Also a member of VFW Post 9927 in Kettering, the American Legion, and the International Association of Fire Fighters. An avid fan of cinema, Steve never missed an action movie. When Steve wasn’t supporting the Ohio Lottery he could be found assembling his Lego Empire.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Dolores Springston; daughter, Angel Springston; grandchildren, Megan and Brandon. Steve is survived by children, Steven (Molly) Springston, Kyle (Amy) Landis, Zac (Kara) Edwards, Melanie (Andrew) Swartz, Shawn Springston; step-children, Debbie (Jesse), Nicole (Mark), Jennifer (Tim); significant other, Velvet Duncan; grandchildren (get ready, there’s a lot!) Jacob, Eric, Jordan, Brionna, Nathan, Kelsea, Avery, Connor, Savannah, Bently, Dexter, Reagan, Derek, Briella, Emberly, and Amari; last but not least, great-grandchildren, Brynn, Ryder, and Roman; siblings, Fred Springston and Sharon Ashurst; uncle, Daniel Springston; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
There will be a visitation in Steve’s honor 4-7PM on Tuesday, March 14 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E Stroop Rd, Kettering.
