Thomas Edward Huffman

May 8, 1943 — January 7, 2023

HUFFMAN, Thomas Edward, age 79, a longtime Pataskala resident, passed away quietly on January 7, 2023.

Tom was born on May 8, 1943 to the late Harold and Florence Huffman in Massillon, Ohio. After graduating from Fostoria High School in 1961, he joined the U.S Air Force as an Office Machine repairman with tours of duty in Montana, Okinawa and the Philippines.

Upon returning home, he worked at The Ohio State University where he met his wife of nearly 55 years, Karen (Wingeier) Huffman. Tom and Karen have two children, Jeffrey and Bradley, which were his pride and joy. Tom worked for the Edward Sims Co. in Columbus, Ohio for nearly 50 years and was one of the nation’s premier and last typewriter and office machine repairmen. He embodied the truest sense of servant leadership as a longtime member of the Pataskala United Methodist Church, Lions International, and leading the 60 Plus tour group with his wife, Karen. Tom was always the first to lend a helping hand anywhere and anytime without any fanfare. He enjoyed watching westerns & the Antarctica webcam, cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes, and spending time with family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father; Harold Huffman; mother, Florence (nee Gray); cousin, Ronald Huffman; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Tom is survived by his wife, Karen (nee Wingeier); Son, Jeffrey (Megan) and their two daughters Cora and Quinn; Son Bradley (Shannon), and their five children: Madison, Caleb, and Isabella, as well as Sofia and Braden (and their mother Laura). Sisters Phyllis Glasgow and Brenda (Ken) Murdock; brother Keith (Anne) Huffman; along with numerous nieces and nephews for which he had an equally impactful influence.

To honor his lifelong virtues of strength and humility, a celebration of life will be held at a later date when his family and friends can gather to enjoy fellowship - one of his favorite activities. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Autism Speaks or The Wounded Warriors Project. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be made at www.routsong.com.
