Thomas W. Krug, Sr.

July 21, 1929 — November 6, 2017

Krug Sr., Thomas W., 88, of Kettering, bids thee adieu. With little control over the coming or going, Thomas W. Krug Sr. began his existence by a progression of circumstances or perhaps miraculous intervention, some nine months prior to July 21, 1929, and ceased his existence on November 6, 2017. You might say the opportunity to die young has eluded him, while providing significant evidence that only the good die young. To put it bluntly in an economy of words, he was, now he ain't. During his four score and eight years, Thomas dodged a few bullets, touched a few lives, left some footprints, loved and was loved, displayed an unjustified pride, had a clear conscience supported by a short memory, and truly enjoyed a life of success and happiness bound by a capacity for matching wants and needs with abilities and deeds. Old too soon, smart too late, one might say, he just ran out of time. However, the memory of him will live on in the thoughts of family and friends. Thomas' greatest contribution and legacy, potentially having the greatest impact on the world, was his minimal participation in producing the three children, resulting in nine grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren and all of whom represent the legacy of a fatherhood and genetic proliferation denied many of the great men in history. The jury will be out on this for some time. Son of Clifford Krug and Marcella McGreevy. Survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Joyce, along with his step-daughter, Debbie (Edward) Tritschler, and step-granddaughter, Heather Finke. Brother of Jack, Jerry, Dick, Marilyn, and Carol, and father of Connie Link, Tom Jr, and Sandy (Neil) Fueston, and grandfather of Brian, Greg, Jennifer, Kelly, Gary, Danny, Stacy, Jake, and Mike, and great-grandfather of 16, making a total of 25 promising descendants. A memorial service will be held at 1pm on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 East Stroop Rd Kettering, 45429, with a visitation following the service till 3pm. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Kettering Medical Center Foundation, 3535 Southern Blvd Kettering, OH 45429. The family would like to thank the Kettering Cancer Center staff for years of compassionate care. Condolences and other remembrances may be sent to the family at www.routsong.com.
