Traude Zettervall

Traude Zettervall, a long-time resident at Bethany Village in Centerville, OH, passed away on Friday, June 27, 2014, at the age of 97. She was preceded by her loving husband Howard Zettervall, who passed away in 1999, and is survived by her son Don Keysser, in Minneapolis, MN, and her two grandsons, David and Nathan Keysser, also in Minneapolis, MN. Traude led a wonderful and extraordinary life, surviving the trauma of living in Berlin throughout World War 2, escaping at the last minute, and living briefly in a Displaced Persons camp run by the British, in the western zone of occupied Germany. She married in 1946, had her son Don in 1948, and divorced in 1951. She and her son emigrated to the US in 1953, sponsored as post-war refugees by Hope Lutheran Church in Dayton, OH. Over the years, Traude rebuilt a life in this country, for her son and herself. Starting as a typist, she eventually became an executive at NCR, from where she retired in the early 1970's. She married Howard Zettervall, the Chief Editor at Lorenz Publishing, in Dayton, OH, in 1966. Traude and Howard were active members of David's Church in Kettering, OH, and lived at Bethany Village since the 1980's. At her request, Traude will be cremated, and her ashes scattered at the Remembrance Garden at David's Cemetery, where she will join her husband Howard. A brief service will be held for Traude on Sunday, July 6, at David's Church in Kettering, starting at 11:30am, following the end of the second service.
