Wendell I. Porter

March 12, 1940 — January 22, 2022

PORTER, Wendell Ivory, age 81, passed away at his son's home in Sevierville, TN on Saturday, January 22, 2022. He graduated High School in New Boston, Ohio. Enlisted in the Navy and served 4 years. He has three children from his first marriage and two from the second; Debbie Lynn, Keith, Anita, John, and Shawn. He lived in Fairborn, New Carlisle (Park Layne), Kettering, and Centerville, Ohio. He retired from Civil Service at Wright Patt in 1988. He also worked for Cub Foods, had a house painting business, and was a security guard in Palm Springs, CA. He was remarried in 1984 to Barbara Anne of Kettering and they lived, loved, and traveled until her early passing on Christmas Eve in 2000 from Pulmonary Fibrosis. Wendell then moved to Florida for a few years before returning to Centerville. He loved traveling, playing golf, fishing, hunting, biking, and USS Corral Sea reunions. He spent the last decade living with his son's family in Sevierville, TN where he loved God, church, and family; playing board games, cards, and watching Ohio State football. He was a big supporter of the local Royal Rangers Outpost and Girls Ministry. Above all, he loved God and family.

Wendell is precede in death by his wife Barbara Anne, parents Myrtle and Ivory Porter of New Boston, brother Paul Porter of Fairborn, son Shawn Porter of Jacksonville, Florida, and daughter Anita Livingston of Kettering. He is survived by his daughter Debbie Lynn (her children Bobby, Brian, Brandon), his son Keith (wife Tania and their children Lexie, Jenna, Konnor), his son Shawn's children (Luke, Hannah, and Joseph), daughter Anita's family (husband Ted and children Nathan and Nicholas Livingston), and son John Bucy (daughter Sabrina). He is also survived by his brother Don, and 4 sisters Eunice, Reatha, Phyllis, and Connie. He has 8 great grandchildren thus far, and a multitude of nieces and nephews; many of which know and love him. Wendell leaves a legacy of love, kindness, and joy. He was a devoted husband, father, uncle, grandfather, friend who was blessed with an abundance of kindness and love.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 12 – 2 PM Saturday February 5, 2022 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, OH. Internment will be beside his wife Barbara Anne on Sunday at noon February 6, 2022 at Kirkwood Cemetery in London, Ohio with Military Honors (Navy) for the immediate family and relatives.

Special thank you goes out to Rocky Top Medical Center, Leconte Hospital, Kindred Home Health, Lincare, and Avalon Hospice that helped maintain his quality of life for many years and helped ease his transition into eternity with his savior Jesus Christ.
