William Garland Brock

BROCK, William Garland, 85, of Kettering, formerly of Wartburg TN, passed away on December 7, 2017. He was born on April 7, 1932, in Wartburg, to Virgil and Rosa (Headrick) Brock. He worked for Schubert Funeral Home prior to serving in the Army from 1953-1955 in Ft. Benning GA. Following his service he and his wife Anita moved to the Dayton, OH area where he worked as a loyal employee of General Motors for over 44 years. In his spare time he was an avid boater and pilot, and earned his instrument license. He could often be found tinkering with his car, or assisting friends and family with household renovation projects. Garland was a longtime member of Dayton Unity Lodge #0147 F&AM, and AASR Valley of Dayton where he was a 32nd degree Mason. He was a caring and loving husband, father, and grandfather, who always put the needs of his family ahead of his own. Garland is preceded in death by siblings Glen Brock and Margaret Witt.

Garland is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Anita (Langley) Brock; Daughter Carol (Michael) Owens; Granddaughters Laura (Achille Scache) Owens and Emilee Owens; Brother Raymond Brock; Several nieces and nephews, including godson Tony Brock; and many loving friends.

A visitation will be held from 4-6pm on Monday December 11, 2017 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 East Stroop Rd, Kettering 45429. A service and Military Honors will follow. Private burial at Davids Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Barry Willison Scholarship Fund, through the Bethesda Foundation, 10500 Montgomery Rd. Montgomery, OH 45242, in honor of the excellent care provided to Garland at Bethesda North Hospital.
