UNDERWOOD, William, age 81, of Kettering, passed away December 21, 2003 at Kettering Medical Center after a brief illness. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre during World War II and graduated from Kent State University in 1950. William spent 10 years at Ford Motor Co. in Dearborn, MI, and was employed for 23 years by Dayton Walther Corporation as Vice President of Purchasing. He was the founder of APT Corp. William was also the past Vice President of National Association of Purchasing Managers. Survived by his wife of 57 years, Genevieve (Jay) Underwood; 2 sons, Jeff Underwood, John and his wife, Cheri Underwood; 2 daughters, Patricia and her husband, Casey Eitner and Nancy and her husband, Rob Caplan; 6 grandchildren, Todd Underwood, Amanda and her husband, Frankie Winiarski, Andrew Eitner, Julia Eitner, Dana Belden and Nicole and her husband, Todd Arndt; 2 great grandchildren, Gabriel Winiarski and Julian Winiarski; 4 sisters, Betty Wright, Pat Stewart, Mary Wolf, Shirley Swinney and many nieces and nephews. Father Anthony Giannamore will preside over a memorial mass to be held Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at 11:00 AM at St. Leonard’s Chapel, 8100 Clyo Rd., Centerville, with a reception to follow.
