Alex James Burger, beloved son, brother, grandson, and friend, passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at the age of 27. Born June 18, 1998, in Dayton, OH, to Jeromy and Amanda Burger, Alex grew up in Kettering, surrounded by family and friends who loved him deeply.
From a young age, Alex’s life was filled with energy and determination. At Fairmont High School, he was active in wrestling, football, and the Construction CTCU program, graduating in 2017. He went on to attend Ironworker School, proudly graduating on May 10, 2025, and stepping into his role as a third-generation Union Ironworker with Local 290—a career path that honored his family’s legacy.
Outside of work, Alex’s heart belonged to the people and places that made him feel alive. He treasured family cookouts, where laughter was loud and the food even better. He felt at home in the outdoors—whether hunting, fishing, or simply taking a drive with the windows down and his favorite country and rock and roll songs turned up. Delco Park was a favorite spot for mountain biking, and his easy smile and playful sense of humor made him a joy to be around.
Alex is preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents, Mel and Mary Stanley; paternal great-grandparents, Paul and Linda Sapienza; maternal great-grandmother, Sharon “Mimi” Seitz; maternal grandmother, Debbie “Maw-maw” Seitz; and paternal uncle, Lloyd Lyons.
He is survived by his father, Jeromy (Jenna Ray) Burger; mother, Amanda (Larry Taylor) Seitz; paternal grandparents, Gregory Burger and Elizabeth Stardancer; maternal grandparents, Bill and Sherry Ruddy, and Douglas Seitz; siblings, Austin Burger, Hollie Burger, Amia Burger, Lilyan Burger, and Titus Taylor; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, co-workers, and friends whose lives were brighter because of him.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 1–4 p.m. at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, OH 45429. A funeral service will follow on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the same location, with burial at David’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alex James Memorial Fund (https://gofund.me/0768ba2b) to honor his memory and the life he lived so fully.
