LAUGHTER, Audrey E. Borkenhagen, 96, born April 14, 1926, of Dayton passed away July 20, 2022. A native of Dayton, Audrey graduated from Stivers High School in 1945, and enjoyed a modeling career with Elder-Beerman. An avid golfer, bowler, and bridge player throughout her life, she hosted along with her husband the Bogie Busters annual golf tournament in Dayton from its inception in 1966. Audrey also volunteered at Miami Valley Hospital and the organization, We Care. Audrey had a special love for her family and always looked forward to celebrating others birthdays, by playing her “Happy Birthday” cake. She had a passion to cook for her family and friends and was especially known for the best fried chicken dinners.
Preceded in death by her husband, Robert Cyrus “Cy” Laughter; daughter, Lori Zelik; parents, Arthur and Catherine Borkenhagen; sister, Joan Holland; in-laws, Robert and Gertrude Laughter; and brothers-in-law, John “Jack’ Laughter and Fred Holland. She is survived by her son, David (Marsha) Laughter; daughter, Gretchen (Peter) McKnight; a niece, Cindi (Doug) Findlay; grandchildren Carrie Ann (Jason) Swart; David (Adriane) Laughter; Brittany (Patrick) Harris; Chris (Jenny) Zelik; Lyndsay (Joseph) Schneider; Casey (Josh) Nuttall; Kevin (Molly) McKnight; Michael McKnight; and fifteen great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 901 East Stroop Road, in Kettering on Saturday July 30, 2022, at 11:00 AM. A private burial will follow. Gifts in Audrey’s memory may be made to the Dayton Food Bank. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.routsong.com.
