Barbara K. Frick

Barbara Kay Frick, nee Henry passed unexpectedly on February 5, 2026 surrounded by loving family. Barbara was born January 7, 1945 in Dayton, Ohio, the only child of Ray and "Dick" Henry.

Barbara was active in Girl Scouts and dance as a youth, graduating from Fairmont High School in 1963. She was most proud of her participation on the Dayton Aquanymphs synchronized swim team. She won several state and national championships both as part of the team and as a solo performer, collecting dozens of medals and trophies.

Barbara was an avid reader, loved classical music and Barbara Streisand, and was a fan of sports and crime TV. She was meticulous in life and with her record keeping, keeping every picture, card and letter she ever received. She loved traveling, both domestic and international and was able to visit such places as Poland, Paris, and Hawaii with friends or family.

After attending college, Barbara began working for the Social Security Administration. Upon retiring, she followed her real passion, dogs. Barbara fostered and adopted countless dogs over the years. She volunteered first at local shelters, and then the Dayton Animal Resource Center, most recently becoming a Pet Behavior Training counselor at which she excelled.

Barbara was very close with her family, always involved in family get togethers, whether it be coloring Easter eggs, decorating Christmas cookies, celebrations, vacationing, or just visiting.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Ray Calvin and Dorothy Louise (Wilkins) Henry, and cousins John Henry Sr, Jean (Henry) Secrist, and John Henry, Jr. She is survived by numerous cousins and good friends, as well as devoted dogs, Toby and Molly.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 9th from 5-6pm at Routsong Funeral Home Kettering (2100 E. Stroop Rd). Funeral services will follow, starting at 6pm. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Montgomery County Animal Resource Center.
