Barbara Jane Thompson

THOMPSON, Barbara J., age 92, of Dayton, OH, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2022. She was a resident of Fairborn for 60 years. Born on June 23, 1930 in Dayton, OH to the late Robert and Mary (Topie) Beverley. Barbara graduated from Wilbur Wright HS, class of 1948, before marrying her one and only sweetheart, Andrew “Andy” Thompson on November 27, 1948. She enjoyed working at Sears for 25 years in both the catalogue and corporate office at the Dayton Mall. In her free time Barbara loved to golf, was an active member of American Business Woman’s Association, and enjoyed working puzzles. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ where she enjoyed serving and singing in the choir for many years. Above all Barbara was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother.

She is preceded by her loving husband, Andy Thompson, in 2017.

Barbara is survived by daughters Beverley Thompson, Patricia Thompson and Andra (Douglas) Weaver; son Gary (Pamela) Thompson; 8 adoring grandchildren, Jill Powell, Blair Mastbaum, Joshua Thompson, Jessica Dapore, Nicholas Weaver, Timothy Weaver, Alexander Weaver and Zachary Weaver. She is also survived by 7 great grandchildren, Ty and Tate Powell, Michael and Wesley Thompson, Henry and Charlie Dapore, and Natalie Weaver; as well as numerous loving extended family.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 11, at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, OH 45429, with a service to follow at 11:00 AM. Burial at Byron Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Red Cross for hurricane Ian relief efforts.
